Oni et al. is a data-driven urban health practice for healthy sustainable development.
Our mission is to support partners working in/on cities globally to align urban infrastructure and development practice, policy and discourse for health and climate resilience.
As an urban health practice, cities are our patients.
We are rethinking health and re-imagining the urban as medicine to improve population health, increase climate resilience and advance sustainable development goals.
To diagnose and treat our city patients, we focus on urban places and places that impact health and climate change through their influence on the air we breathe, the ways we move and the food we eat.
Our expertise and services
To advance transformative integrated action on health and sustainable development, we offer:
Strategic advisory and technical assistance
We offer expert advice, brokerage and technical input, leveraging decades of transdisciplinary urban health research expertise and science diplomacy experience in Africa and globally. We support partners with future-proofing organisational priorities, projects and programmes in the context of transboundary intersectoral urban and planetary health challenges, particularly in Africa.
Implementation partnerships
- Precision advocacy: We deploy our blueprint for scalable youth-led data-driven advocacy campaigns to support funder, governmental and non-governmental partners with implementing community-led grassroots advocacy campaigns in cities worldwide.
- Participatory mapping: We also support governmental and non-governmental, development and multilateral organisation partners with dynamic multimedia data to understand evolving health/climate risks and assets in urban environments and to assess near real-time impacts of extreme weather events.
Shaping discourse
Through speaking engagement and thought leadership, we contribute to discourse shaping new narratives on urban and planetary health for sustainable development in cities worldwide.
Capacity strengthening
We offer training, facilitation, and course design services that apply transdisciplinary methods, science diplomacy, foresight, and planetary health approaches. Our capacity-strengthening services equip individuals and organisations from development sectors, multilateral agencies, multinational, private sector and research organisations with skills to optimise their impact on healthy sustainable development.
We also offer training and support with the design and implementation of citizen science research.
Citizen science research design and implementation services
We offer support with design and implementation of citizen science research that ensures public participation and access to trained citizen scientists and participatory data infrastructure.
